Why Cogveil
What Makes the Difference in Watch Repair
Trained hands, honest assessments, and a process that takes as long as it needs to — not as long as a schedule allows.

Six Reasons Customers Come Back
These are the things customers mention when they bring a second or third watch to us — what they noticed the first time.
Trained Watchmakers on Staff
Every watch that comes in is handled by someone who trained in the discipline. Assessments and repairs are not delegated to general technicians.
You Are Told What Was Found
Before work begins, you receive a plain account of what the watch needs and what the cost will be. If nothing needs doing, we say that too.
Multi-Day Running Check
Movements run in-house after servicing. A watch that settles well in the first 24 hours can still drift later. We check across multiple days and positions.
Written Service Record
Complication overhauls come with a document recording what was adjusted, what was replaced, and what was found. This becomes part of the watch's history.
Stated Prices, No Surprises
Service prices are published. If a scope change is needed, it is agreed before the work continues. The invoice at collection matches the agreed figure.
Coverage on Mechanical Work
A defined coverage period applies to mechanical servicing. If the same fault returns within the period, we examine it again without a repeat charge for that issue.
Expertise
People Who Know What They Are Looking At
Nattapong trained in Switzerland before returning to Thailand. The two watchmakers who joined him later completed formal courses rather than learning on the job. This matters because watchmaking involves decisions that look small but have lasting effects — which lubricant grade for which pivot, whether a mainspring is worth cleaning or replacing, whether a dial marking can be refreshed or should be left alone.
Having trained staff means these decisions are made on the basis of knowledge, not habit. It also means there is someone to talk to who can explain what they found and why they are proposing what they are proposing.
What That Looks Like in Practice
- Assessment identifies what needs attention and what does not
- Lubricant selection matched to movement type and age
- Dial work stopped where further refinishing would alter original markings
- Strap fittings checked for correct diameter, not fitted to approximate
- Running rate logged after service and compared against manufacturer specification
The Complication Overhaul Process
- 01External examination and assessment before work agreed
- 02Disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning of movement components
- 03Inspection of worn components; replacement where needed
- 04Lubrication at each pivot and jewel
- 05Calendar or moon-phase indicator calibration
- 06Multi-day running check in multiple positions
- 07Written record completed; watch returned to customer
Process
A Defined Process, Not a Loose Procedure
Each type of service has a fixed sequence. Complication overhauls follow the same steps every time — not because the watchmaker lacks experience, but because a defined sequence prevents things being missed. The multi-day running check is the final stage, not an optional one.
The total time from drop-off to collection for a complication overhaul is typically ten to fourteen working days. We do not compress this. A watch collected sooner than that has not had the settling time the process requires.
Customer Approach
A Workshop You Can Walk Into and Ask Questions
The front room at Cogveil is where customers sit and talk through what they have. If you are unsure whether a watch needs servicing, come in and we will look at it. We do not charge for the conversation and we do not push work that is not needed.
Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. If you have multiple pieces or a more involved query, a message beforehand helps us set time aside properly.

What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive to Cogveil
Adjustment Record Travels with the Watch
The written record from a complication overhaul is not just a receipt — it is a document for future reference. Any watchmaker who services the piece next can see what was done and when. This is uncommon at independent workshops.
Phuket Climate Awareness
Thailand's heat and humidity affect lubricants at a rate that differs from northern-hemisphere conditions. We factor this into service advice — particularly for vintage movements with original lubricants that are beyond their useful life in this climate.
No Over-Servicing
If a watch needs a strap change, that is what we do. We do not use the visit as an opportunity to recommend additional work. What we find is what we discuss, and nothing more.
Fixed Address in Phuket Old Town Since 2009
The workshop has been on Thanon Thalang for over fifteen years. A fixed presence at a known address is a different kind of assurance from a pop-up counter or a postal service.
